- AA INTERACTIVE BRITAIN & IRELAND
-
-
- SCROLL TO FUNCTIONALITY
- The 'Scroll To' function on the information display screens
- will navigate within the category titles and the record
- titles within the selected category. For instance, typing
- the name of an artist when viewing the list of scientists
- will not result in a match being found. However, by
- selecting the artist category first, the desired result
- may be attained. An alternative method of finding
- information about a specific topic is to use the Index or
- Search screens.
-
- FIND LOCATION
- In the map display, it is possible to type in a place
- name with the map automatically displaying its location.
- To view the information screen for the found entry, turn
- on the Where icons from the 'Navigate'controls. If an icon
- is displayed at the found location, just click on it to
- view its details.
-
- WINDOWS 3.1 USERS
- AA Interactive Britain & Ireland is a very graphical
- application, which uses a significant proportion of the
- computers resources. Due to a known problem with
- Windows 3.1, resources are gradually consumed until they
- reach a dangerously low level. In such a situation, both
- the AA Interactive Britain & Ireland and Windows itself
- may cease to perform reliably.
- Should the application begin to suffer with any problems
- when displaying the screens, or start to display warnings
- about resource levels, you should quit the application
- and re-start. AA Interactive Britain & Ireland should then
- function normally.
-
- SCREEN RESOLUTION
- AA Interactive Britain & Ireland is designed to use a main
- window that is equivalent to the full screen display when
- Windows is set to run at a resolution of 640x480. For this
- reason AA Interactive Britain & Ireland looks best when
- Windows is running at a resolution of 640x480. Running
- Windows at a resolution greater than 640x480 will result
- in a smaller main window for the application.
-
- TEXT DISPLAYS INCORRECTLY AND/OR IMAGES CHOPPED OFF
- AT EDGES
- This problem can occur if your display driver is set to a
- 'large font' mode instead of normal sized fonts. You
- should run the Windows Setup program to change the
- display driver to one that does not use large fonts.
-
- QUALITY OF PRINTOUTS
- Because of the physical differences between printers and
- monitor displays, the quality of printouts are often
- inferior to what is shown on the screen. This depends on
- the type of printer being used and the printer driver that
- Windows uses to 'talk' to the printer. If you find that
- the quality of a printout is not as expected then you
- could try obtaining the latest printer drivers for your
- particular printer from the supplier of your printer.
- You may experience some problems if your printer is set to
- 600 dpi. To avoid this we recommend printing at a lower
- resolution, such as 300 dpi.
-
- HOW TO IMPROVE APPLICATION PERFORMANCE
- Because of the graphical nature of AA Interactive Britain &
- Ireland, you may find that the program runs slowly on low
- memory systems. If this is the case then consider closing
- down any other applications that you may be running. This
- includes any DOS Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs
- that may be running.
-
- QUICK TIME VIDEO PROBLEMS
- If you experience problems playing videos in the
- application, consult the Quick Time read-me file for
- possible solutions. This can be accessed from the
- Quick Time for Windows group.
- Some graphics cards experience problems when playing
- QuickTime movies. Is is advisable to ensure that you have
- the latest versions of the device drivers for your graphics
- card. These may be obtained from your supplier or the
- manufacturer.
